Dear Colleagues,
At Lexington Books we take great pride in our unwavering commitment to publishing specialized research
essential to advancing scholarship at a time when many academic publishers have abandoned this part of
their programs. We continue to publish high-quality monographs and edited collections by established
and emerging scholars, works that may not have a wide audience but make a significant contribution to
scholarship in the humanities and social sciences.
Our publishing program has grown significantly since Lexington was acquired by the Rowman & Littlefield
Publishing Group in 1998, from a list of about 80 new titles in 1999 to about 350 new titles in 2010.
We continue to expand our program both in disciplines in which we are well-established, such as political
science, international studies, philosophy, and sociology, as well as in areas that are newer to us, such
as education, anthropology, and cultural studies. We also publish books in multi-volume series edited by
leading scholars. Please browse our website to see the wide range of our offerings and to view the series
listings.
Our books are reviewed regularly in scholarly journals and CHOICE magazine, which reaches almost every
undergraduate college and university library in the United States, and they are frequently winners or
finalists for academic book awards (including winners of the Templeton Enterprise Award and the W.E.B.
Du Bois-Anna Julia Cooper Award, as well as a National Jewish Book Award finalist). We display our books
alongside those of our sister imprint, Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, at many major academic conferences
throughout the year, and market our books through catalogs, flyers, and email campaigns to professors and
academic librarians.
